I keep seeing these around town, and I kind of like the looks of them.

But I am curious, what is ownership like? How would you rate the overall car "experience" from owning it? Is it a straight up appliance? Or is there some soul to the car?

I don't know if you follow the Smoking Tire, but Matt Farah loves his. Very good chassis.

I think literally the only complaint I've heard about the Volt from Matt is the amount of noise it makes with the windows down.

A couple videos I think. Very informative.

A friend of my father owns one. He loves it. I sat in it once though, and the dash feels huge, and rear visibility is limited.

Co-worker bought one last year. I ride to lunch in it occationally. He likes it, but he's also not really a car guy. More of a trend guy.

I like it too. He got a huge discount on it, plus tax rebate of $6,000. It sounds like a spaceship when you start it up. Interior quality id pretty good. Infotainment system isn't the worst I've seen or dealt with. We are in Wisconsin, and the winter killed the battery life. He was getting about 20 miles out of battery-only at ~0 degrees F. Now his whole 30 mile commute is battey only in the 70 degree range.

Only thing I dont like about his are the fugly wheels. He got the worst ones on his car.

That's the one thing I've heard as well - limited rear visibility.

I'm honestly considering getting one in the future. Prices of used Volts are coming down, and I really like the idea of a plug-in hybrid.

Haven't gone for a ride yet but looks good, I really like it in black.

Yup, saw one in black the other day, and that is what really pushed me over the edge of considering one next year. They look great in black.

I've considered it as well but I don't know how I feel about an extension cord coming out of my apartment.
